Unless you're looking for a simple neighborhood watering hole or a standard sports bar, there haven't been many options of late on Jericho Turnpike -- really anywhere from Mineola to the Queens border. However, there's finally a new option for those looking to step up their night to a loftier level of libation: Cellar Twenty-Five.
In the space formerly known as the Internet Bar, the new spot opened on Feb. 25, providing a place to relax with various wines and cocktails at the ready (there are plenty of beer options, too). The staff is friendly (owners Carlos and Carlos are especially genial), and with cut-stone décor, tables constructed from large barrels, curvy lounge seating and electronic dance beats playing, the atmosphere stands out among other local taverns. But there's also a causal side to Cellar -- TVs play big games and there's a pool table to keep you busy.
Although the establishment is new, word is that there will be some live acoustic music coming soon to bolster the event calendar (currently "Wine Night" is Wednesday and Ladies Night is Thursday). For now, just having this cozy hang sprout up in New Hyde Park/ Garden City Park is quite encouraging in itself.
