Hailing from Patchogue, Chrisette Michele — like a number of young, Long Island-born creative minds, now calls Brooklyn home. And while many LI youths that have made the journey to New York City to try and turn their talents into successful careers have yet to break through, Michele, 30, — a graduate of Five Towns College in Dix Hills — has already scored a Grammy nomination (best female R&B vocal performance) and a Grammy win (best urban/alternative performance) for tracks from her 2008 debut album “I Am.” The soft-but-firm voice of this neo-soul R&B artist has since graced three studio albums, with the fourth (“Better”) available on Tuesday, June 11. So appropriately, Michele will be back on the Island during the weekend to celebrate.
On Saturday, June 8, Georgica Restaurant and Lounge in Wainscott is hosting a congratulatory dinner to mark the arrival of her latest work, and this event is open to the public. There are no tickets for sale, but anyone interested in joining the affair can make dinner reservations, and then stick around — as the meal will be followed by an after-party that kicks off at 11 p.m., with the in-demand NYC selector DJ Julian Cavin spinning until late.
