Taking advantage of the free-from-work Friday generated by this year’s Fourth of July, Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa will be throwing a daytime bash that is already looking like a smash hit.
For the most part, July 4 is a day when virtually everybody is able to get away from their cubicles, desks and other work-related furniture to get out and cut loose -- which may explain why all the general admission tickets for the “Catch Beach Ball” party scheduled to take place at Gurney’s on Independence Day have already sold out. Or then again, perhaps it’s due to the entertainer lineup.
DJs Viceroy, Michelle Von Mandel and Jonny Famous are all slated to spin, so expect an afternoon of trippy, deep beats -- but the main event is to be a mix set from the band Chromeo -- a funky, electric disco-friendly duo receiving much critical acclaim and has been invited to play on TV shows ranging from “Late Night with David Letterman” to “Yo Gabba Gabba” (as well as an especially lauded turn on “Live from Daryl's House”).
As above-mentioned, the response to this get-together has been heavy -- and all the $60 entrance-only tickets have sold out -- but (as of this writing) group purchases are still available: a $1,500 “Beach Lounge” option (includes two lounge chairs, a table, a bottle of vodka, a bottle of champagne; good for up to six people), a table reservation for $3,500 (includes one bottle of Herradura Tequila, one magnum of champagne, a magnum of vodka, a 750 mL bottle of vodka; good for up to 12 people), and a $5,000 daybed reservation (a bottle of Herradura Tequila, one magnum of champagne, one magnum of vodka, a 750mL bottle of vodka and a 750mL bottle of champagne; good for up to 15 people).
Car pools and taxi usage are encouraged, as there will be no parking available on the premises or on the nearby roads; 21 and over only. For more information and ticket purchase, visit catchbeachball.splashthat.com.
