With Memorial Day Weekend approaching quickly, it won’t be long before the Hamptons nightlife crowd is buzzing about what events will be the “must-attends” for the season. Among those affairs will certainly be several charity and fundraising happenings, and for anyone looking for a soiree to serve as a warm-up to the many gatherings to come, the Southampton Chamber of Commerce has a solid function scheduled for Saturday, May 4.

Calling the get-together a “Cinco de Mayo Eve” party, the night kicks off at 7 p.m., and is being held at The Southampton Center — the former home of the Parrish Art Museum — which remains an impressive structure, even without its former tenant. In place of the sketches and paintings the Parrish once presented, the ambience will be set by the jazzy funk sounds of the band Certain Moves.

In addition to the musical entertainment, there will be an open bar from 7-8 p.m., and a tasting menu of dishes garnered from various local restaurants. Tickets are available for $60 in advance at or for $75 at the door, with the fees collected going to help fund this year’s Southampton SeptemberFest 2013 (, a two-day fall festival that will feature music, food, art and more.
