There was a time when the Long Island club scene was generally home to a crowd made up of college-age guests and twenty-somethings . . . but these days, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Many of today’s popular and busy nightspots in Nassau and Suffolk counties tend to be frequented by a more mature crowd -- generally 30-and-older -- and because of this, several venues have done things like have the DJs play classic or retro music, or bring in acts from the 1980s and '90s to perform.
However, the Blue Parrot Lounge at 5460 Merrick Rd. in Massapequa is taking the pitch to older patrons to a different place: the pocketbook.
On Thursday, March 8 at 8 p.m., all female customers will need their ID to prove their age, as all ladies 40 years of age and older can drink free from 8 -10 p.m.
Calling it "Cougar Night," the evening will also entail a karaoke DJ (Joey Nuccio), so dancing and singing will both be possible. As for the guys, gentlemen can enjoy shareable “bucket specials,” which include four beers and four shots (of the bar’s choosing) for $20. The “drink free” special for women does not include these buckets.
