With Christmas Eve falling on a Saturday in 2011, many of Long Island’s clubs and bars will be taking that evening off in anticipation of St. Nick – which in effect will turn Friday into a sort-of “backup” Saturday for those looking to get out and party.
If you’re among those heading out for this nightlife-abbreviated weekend, and looking for a fun and dance worthy (yet mature) event out on the day before Christmas Eve, one choice would be catching a session with DJ Jenny Costa as she spins at Two Steak and Sushi Den in New Hyde Park on Friday.
Anyone who has made a habit out of clubbing on the Island at some point during the past 25 years has most likely danced to a mix created by one of the area’s most celebrated DJs – and being a woman in a field widely dominated by men hasn’t slowed her down, as she has outlasted a countless contingent of her contemporaries.
A regular presence on the radio, she has been on the air since the mid 80s, appearing on 92 WKTU-FM as a teen and Costa is still in the mix on WKTU (albeit at 103.5, the station’s current home) spinning freestyle and classic dance as well as newer hits. She’ll be doing the same at Two starting at 9 p.m., and for female patrons in attendance, her musical selection won’t be the only hit as ladies receive half-price drinks from 9 -11 p.m. (be sure and dress to impress).
