Whether it be mainstream dance, hip-hop, pop, country or rock you prefer to hear while on the dance floor, there shouldn't be much of a challenge finding any or all of those genres playing at several venues during the Memorial Day weekend – but for those who’d rather experience underground sounds while celebrating the beginning of the summer season, there is one singular event that should do the trick.

Starting at 4 p.m. (and running until 4 a.m.), the Smoovegroove event and production group will hold “Into The Groove” at D19 Sports Lounge & Eatery at 519 Hawkins Ave. in Lake Ronkonkoma -- an EDM party that will feature lots of DJs working with a number of beat-powered, alternative dance music subgenres.

More than 20 different selectors will be on-hand, including scene stars such as Chris “Subrox” Townsend, Frank Clementi and Tom Groove – all of whom will join to spin dubstep, house, breaks, trance, drum-n-bass, techno and more. In addition, there will be some free food (from 4 p.m.-6 p.m.), giveaways, club dancers and lasers flashing in light-show fashion.

The age of admission is 21 and over; cover is $10 at the door. For more information, check out Smoovegroove online at
