Miche Bacher, author of "Cooking with Flowers, recommends the following sources for fresh, organic, edible flowers:

Peconic River Herb Farm, Calverton (631-369-0058), prherbfarm.com: This nursery has a variety of flowers for the cook, as well as a shop stocked with vintage goods for kitchen and garden.

Koppert Cress, Cutchogue (631-734-8500), usa.koppertcress.com: It stocks nasturtiums and pansies year-round. Call ahead to place an order. In warmer months, there is a farm stand at the front entrance.

Sur La Table, surlatable.com: Sells a nice variety of candied, crystallized flowers.
