One of the most exciting things about the Hamptons in the summer is the influx of celebrities. It seems at every turn, someone is spotting Alec Baldwin, Ed Burns or Howard Stern -- but when word gets out that an unexpected famous face is to make an appearance somewhere east of Westhampton Beach, the buzz fills blogs, tweets, Facebook walls and other online chat spots.
Who is one of the hottest to-be-seen-soon stars ready to make the scene right now? Believe it or not, none other than MC Hammer, the pop hip-hop icon and dance king, will be appearing at the Alexander Soros Foundation‘s “Unmasked” gala on Saturday, July 7, at Fairview Farm in Bridgehampton (19 Horsemill Lane, 631-537-6154) -- and yes, he is to unleash a performance -- or as he has referred to his concerts in the past, some “Hammertime.”
Hammer (aka Stanley Kirk Burrell) may not be topping the music charts these days, but over his career the artist has sold more than 50 million albums, won three Grammy Awards, eight American Music Awards and has toured all over the world -- among other achievements.
His appearance at “Unmasked” will only be a part of the festivities, as the evening will also include cocktails, dinner, dancing and more -- and with the Alexander Soros Foundation (ASF) host committee includes actors Anne Hathaway, Emma Thompson and Robert Redford (the night will be co-hosted by ASF director Alexander Soros and filmmaker Edward Zwick), there’s a good chance this may be one of the more celebrity-studded events of the season.
Tickets are available starting at $1.000, with additional available by calling Ashley Wierdsma of Reputation Communications at 212-505-1253 or online at alexandersorosfoundation.org. Start time is 6:30 p.m. Guests are asked to dress in summer formal, but also to wear masks (as there will be an “unmasking” portion of the evening after cocktails).
