With 156 short and feature-length films, the Long Island International Film Expo is sure to have something to spark your interest. Whether you're in the mood for a comedy or a tragedy, the expo has it all, not to mention some serious star power, with films featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Amanda Peet, Hayden Christiansen, plus many other celebrities.
The opening night of the expo is July 9 and it runs through July 18 at Bellmore Movies. The closing night party and awards ceremony features comedy by Jackie "The Jokeman" Martling, formerly of the "Howard Stern Show," pictured, as well as other celebrity honorees and presenters.
Films like “The 5th Quarter,” which plays opening night, certainly grabbed my attention. Even the short trailer made me want to keep watching.
If your schedule is the only thing holding you back, don’t worry! The films are playing at various times throughout the day for the entire week.
All in all, this international film expo seems like an interesting way to channel your inner film critic and immerse yourself in a different experience. If nothing else, it might be the perfect way to infuse some culture and entertainment into your summer.
