Adding to the list of internationally celebrated DJs appearing on the Long Island scene is Laidback Luke, a superstar of the dance world who will be appearing at GLO in Westbury on Friday, March 30 after 10 p.m.
As the choppy, bass-powered sounds that were (and still often are) considered to be strictly underground begin to find an increased presence in major mega-clubs, the climate is right for Luke. His original claim to fame was as an in-demand remixer, now he’s equally -- if not even more so -- appreciated for his singular selector sessions.
While many of the mixers who work the arena-size club circuit are known to stick to the anthem-like big beats, Laidback Luke snaps off pieces of various audio samples and weaves them into an interconnected flow -- a characteristic more often then not left to either the experimental crowd or clever artists who play the smaller venues. Naturally, his sets feature the energy most globally-recognized DJs offer, but this gentleman goes about it in a very smooth way.
Advance tickets have already sold out, but there will be sales at the door for $20. Age of admission is 21-and-over; guests must dress to impress.
GLO is located at 737 Merrick Ave. in Westbury.
