Stop watching "American Idol" to root for artistic talent. Instead, look in your own backyard. Or, more specifically, in Patchogue.
The first annual Long Island Artist Invitational, which highlights established and up-and-coming artists who live and work in Long Island, will have an artist reception tomorrow afternoon at C2 Fine Art Gallery in Patchogue. The show continues through February 26.
"You want to promote artists in general, but you definitely should be supporting artist nearer to you," says C2 Fine Art Gallery co-owner Chip Hunter of the role of galleries.
Works range from mixed medium, watercolors, photography and oils to pastels, illustrations, acrylics and sculpture, Hunter said. Prices range from about $200 to $13,000.
Featured artists include Brian Neuberger, Dawn Lee, Jay Varney, Jillian Rennar, Jim Sabiston, Joseph Heidecker, Liz Macchio, Robert Perinuzzi, Sarah Foster, Sharon Way Howard and William Thierfelder.
