For Long Islanders who consider dance music a key to nightlife, some good news: LOVE will be back.
The Carle Place nightclub, known for its event calendar loaded with appearances by superstar DJs, had closed at the end of May – which isn't unusual, as landlocked nightspots are occasionally known to cease operations between spring and fall in anticipation of LI’s late-night fun-seekers annual migration toward waterside venues and the Hamptons. However, in the case of LOVE, its previous seasonal closure has brought big changes.
At the time it closed in May 2013, the venue was still known as Sugar Dining Den and Social Club. Once both a nightspot and well-reviewed restaurant, Sugar had stopped serving food by the time of that year’s seasonal break -- and when it returned in the fall of 2013 it was rebranded LOVE – a pure nightclub without any food component. It had a successful first run as a foodless bash, but recent checks of the LOVE website and social media pages revealed nothing in the way of upcoming fall events. Could LOVE be going the way of Sugar, or possibly just going away?
According to a representative of the LOVE team, the club will in fact be returning, with its kickoff party set for Saturday, Sept. 13. The affair is slated to be a ladies night, and although many details concerning this gathering are yet to be publicized, DJs Serg and Doug Oko are scheduled to spin -- as is international celebrity mixer DJ Boris on the following Friday, Sept. 19. In addition, LOVE has reported plans to reopen its kitchen, tentatively calling the proposed effort "The Supper Club @ LOVE.” Further information is to be announced, but to keep tabs on the spot, check online at lovenightclubli.com and facebook.com/lovenightclubli.
