Since we're on the topic of ice cream...

As Mark recently touted the merits of Wolfies Custard, which I agree, is delicious, I thought it best to give a shout out to what I consider the tastiest ice cream on the Island.

Last summer some friends and I rented a house in New Suffolk for the weekend. When we weren't playing bocce ball in the yard or board games indoors (Apples to Apples and Catch Phrase were favorites), we were eating ... a lot.

We had bowls of homemade guacamole, lobster feasts, corn on the cob, watermelon treated with a healthy dose of vodka, and much more. And amid all of this delicious food and drink, one thing stands out the most -- the ice cream from Magic Fountain in Mattituck (9825 Main Rd., 631-298-4908).

The Chocolate Chili was to die for, and so not what you could get anywhere else, at least anywhere I've been. Same for the Coconut Avocado. Mmmmm.

The website lists Olive Oil, Pomegranate, Kahlua & Cream, Lychee and that delicious Chocolate Chili as flavors of the month for May. Right about now I'm trying to dream up an assignment that will get me out to the North Fork just for a scoop. Click here for the complete list of flavors.

Any other favorite spots? Peruse our list of where to get ice cream on Long Island and chime in.
