For the many who head out at night, it’s common knowledge that certain communities on the Island have several worthy late spots for good times. Whether it’s the many bars and clubs located in the village sections of hamlets and neighborhoods like Long Beach, Freeport, Bay Shore, Babylon, Ocean Beach, Farmingdale, Rockville Centre, Patchogue and Huntington, an evening out can be full of variety.

On the other hand, there are areas that might feature one or two big nearby draws, but are otherwise not all that active. Until recently, Carle Place could be considered limited in party stops – for while Sugar Dining Den and Social Club (246 Voice Rd., 516-248-7600, remains a tremendous success, the area is otherwise pretty quiet. But come the summer of 2012, things between Mineola and Westbury may be heating up.

There are two casting call events coming up in Carle Place. The first goes down on Monday, April 9 from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. at 377 Old Country Road – the location for the soon-to-open “Bottomz Up Bar and Grill.” Set to be a sports bar and restaurant, it is hunting for people who “have the looks of a model, the brains of a scientist and the talent of a mixologist” (as per the upcoming venue’s Facebook page).

Meanwhile, only a few doors down at 440 Old Country Road, the long-running summer event “Body English Tuesdays” will be returning for another season of weekly bashes at Chateau Briand – and the planners of this event will also be looking for staffers via a casting call. It is a two-night search (April 16-17, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.), and the offers include everything from security and doormen to bartenders, waitresses and more.

In addition, the Holiday Inn at 369 Old Country Rd. – while not going for a packed-house sort of scene – is also making a new move with its Sporting News Grill opening in May. An eatery and bar, this is part of a national chain that flies under the banner of the decades-old sports magazine – all of which feature meaty classic American menus, full bars and HDTV for watching big games.

Add in the aforementioned Sugar, then keep in mind that in neighboring Westbury Canz Bar & Grill (1610 Old Country Rd), Chi Lounge (103 Post Ave., 516-385-3795, and GLO (737 Merrick Ave., 516-794-8022, are only a number of blocks away – and in quick order the approximately 2-3 mile stretch of Old Country Road between the Roosevelt Field mall and Eisenhower Park may be seeing a serious uptick in activity come the summer solstice.
