After a long hiatus, there’s suddenly word that Painters in Brookhaven may be on its way back for a second time, and a second life.
After a fire that occurred in April 2012, the restaurant and bar -- especially notable for the art that hung from its walls and ceiling in all directions -- had reportedly closed for repairs, but at the time the owner had expressed the venue would be restored to full operation shortly thereafter.
As it turns out, a reopening never took place, and there were no new statements on whether Painters (416 South Country Rd.) would ever return. The following fall, a “For Sale” notice appeared on the spot’s main sign, seemingly indicating its permanent demise.
In the meantime, all of the Painters online outlets stayed active, although no new content appeared. However, fans of the business visiting its Facebook page would occasionally place posts, wondering in bulletins if there would ever be an update on what exactly had happened. Fast-forward to Wednesday, when a new Facebook post from Painters appeared announcing:
“Looking to reopen later this fall. Follow us on FB (Facebook) for updates and an eventual opening date as we begin to get closer.”
Since that declaration, there hasn't been any added word (as of this writing), but for anyone seeking to keep a watch on whether Painters will follow through or what it might eventually do, head online to facebook.com/painters.rest.
