Pop’s 'Flip Flop Thursdays'

Spent the day at the beach? After soaking

Spent the day at the beach? After soaking in the sun, check out Pop's Seafood Shack & Grill (15 Railroad Pl., Island Park) on Reynolds Channel with a man-made beach with seating at private cabanas, a fire-pit lounge and a deck with a retractable canopy, for rainy days. On the menu: a lobster and sweet potato salad, three kinds of lobster rolls, seafood fra diavolo and the necessary burger.

It was a year ago that Pop’s Seafood Shack and Grill arrived on the west side of Reynolds Channel in Island Park (in July 2011), and after starring as a summer rookie hit, it has returned for another strong season.

With its sand-covered courtyard and DJ booth dinghy, this relaxed restaurant and nightspot at 15 Railroad Place has had no problem maintaining its buzz and seeing some heavy crowds, but it appears that come Thursdays an extra push will arrive – and it involves freebies for females – so a healthy boost in attendance seems likely.

The event is being called “Pop’s Flip Flop Thursdays” and starts July 12 until the venue closes in the fall. The first 200 ladies to arrive after 5 p.m. (over 21 years of age) are promised a pair of flip-flop footwear. In addition, all female patrons score a gratis glass of Sutter home wine, a cost-less Skinny Girl brand vodka drink and complimentary makeover gift certificates – not to mention half-price drinks (again, ladies only) from 7-11 p.m.
