Although Independence Day 2012 is in the books, dance floors around the Hamptons this coming weekend are likely to reflect the “it’s-still-a-holiday” feelings generated by the falling of the Fourth on a Wednesday. Many East End spots have booked a number of star selectors to spin for the next few days. Here’s who is scheduled to take over the DJ booths:
DJ M.O.S. is a busy man, working clubs around the world and being frequently hired to handle the music at private events and celebrity gatherings. Spinning a combination of classic hip-hop, dance and other songs popular at parties, he worked Southampton Social Club in Southampton during Memorial Day weekend – and the result was a tremendous turnout. He’ll be back at the SSC on Thursday, July 5, starting sometime in the evening; best bet is to make reservations to miss out on the swarm of people vying to gain entry (631-287-1400, southamptonsocialclub.com).
Hailing from Stockholm, Otto Knows comes to the U.S.A. with a reputation as a great producer, remixer and club DJ. He’ll be working the crowd at the dance music-powered South Pointe (at 125 Tuckahoe Lane, Southampton) on Friday, July 6, after 9 p.m. Table purchasing is a wise consideration toward successful admittance as international summer visitors arrive here in great numbers (those not familiar may remember this building was once known as Tavern). Easily one of the most-recognized DJs in the world, Russian-born Boris Inzhin – better known simply as “Boris” – has held residencies in clubs around the country, and (under the refrain “Believe”) draws thousands to parties in New York City and Long Island every year. So instantly recognizable is Inzhin in the dance community, his appearances are often marketed like concerts. To catch him live at Dream (17 Canal Rd., Hampton Bays) on Saturday, July 7, after 10 p.m., purchase tickets in advance at wantickets.com.
