It’s one thing to pick up a cue stick and play some pool. It’s another to see a great billiards player take a table and put on a demonstration of skill – yet watching two high-caliber talents battle each other across the felt is a special event.

Fans of billiards can look forward to such a scrum as two international stars of the professional pool circuit will be going head-to-head at VIP Billiards in Bayport on Saturday, March 30.

From 4-8 p.m., Dennis "The Hatchet Man" Hatch and Johnny "The Scorpion" Archer will be at VIP to put on an exhibition match likely to include some seriously expert-level pool shooting. Hatch, a Buffalo native, has a history loaded with highlights, with his crowning achievement being the 2009 Mosconi Cup Team USA winner (the Mosconi Cup is an annual tournament between teams from Europe and the United States).

As for Archer, he happens to be a two-time World Pool-Billiard Association champion (1992, 1997), the 1999 U.S. Open 9-Ball champion and the 2006 winner of the International Challenge of Champions tournament – only just a few of his many career high points that helped him receive induction into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame in 2009.

The two will square off, but in addition also take time to sign autographs, perform a trick-shot demo and even play some doubles matches with crowd members. Tickets are available at the door for $15, or in advance for $10 at

VIP Billiards: 724 Montauk Hwy., Bayport, 631-472-1234
