It’s not usually too hard to find something to do come the weekend in Patchogue, as it’s often a time when area pubs, clubs, lounges, bars and theaters run showcase events – most of which involve live music, DJs and dancing. But come Saturday, May 3, there’s a special soiree set to offer a different sort of entertainment.

From 5 p.m.-7 p.m., the Patchogue Arts Gallery will host an opening reception for “Projections,” a dual display of new installations from local artists Michelle Carollo and Jason Paradis. There’s no cover charge, and guests can enjoy wine, cheese and DJ music – making it an ideal evening destination for some – but as the venues that serve up nightlife elsewhere in Patchogue are only a short stroll away, the gallery's proximity and early scheduling also make it a stop for those both curious to check out the display and then looking to spend the night on the town.

Designed specifically to fit the space utilized, the subjects of "Projections" mix painted surfaces with material and structure to create scenes, all of which are intended to combine and permit a visual and palpable transition in substance. Projections is slated to run until June 21; for more information, visit the Patchogue Arts Gallery online at To learn more about the artists involved, check out their respective websites ( and
