As nightlife goes, a notable quality of the Long Island scene is how simple it can be for those who were club-minded during the early 2000s — not to mention the 1990s and even 1980s — to easily find regular events that still draw in that same, now-mature crowd. (Check HERE for some top options.)
However, despite the average age at such happenings, many of the DJs that play these parties tend to mix together a wide range of beats — creating a blend ranging in selection from the most senior of old school tracks to today’s hottest hits. On the other hand, if you are looking for a night dedicated to a specific mesh of sounds — not ancient but old enough to predate the Obama administration — there’s a bash coming soon that might just be a right fit.
On April 26, DJ Jason Ojeda will be spinning at LOVE in Carle Place as part of “Classics By The Creators,” a special gathering that will feature club music from between 2001 and 2005. Ojeda should have no problem picking the right tracks for this occasion, as he has not only starred on the NYC nightlife circuit for a couple of decades, but has also always been a big draw on the Island (he was once the resident DJ of the now-defunct CPI in Hampton Bays). Nonetheless, the night is being advertised as a “POSH” reunion, as some of the team behind the POSH parties that once drew hundreds weekly to make merry at the Garden City Hotel some 10 to 15 years ago — hospitality personalities Brian Rosenberg, Lou B, Mikey Linx and Richie Pedone — are also involved with LOVE, so it is more than likely some of the people that once regularly populated the late POSH get-togethers will be on the “Classics” invitation list.
In addition, there will be a live performance from Dix Hills-native Kim Sozzi, a dance artist whose music (such as tunes "Feelin' Me,” “Feel Your Love” and “How Did You Know," among others) has received frequent play by Long Island DJs since the late 1990s.
