For fans of dance music, getting to know the artists who sing the songs or the DJs who produce the beats can be a lengthy task.
Unlike pop stars -- whose efforts are both played and identified by radio and other mainstream outlets -- finding those responsible for a dance tune you may have casually heard in a club, the gym, a mall or other venue that regularly spins EDM often first requires on-the-spot memorization of lyrics (or recording them on your phone), then engaging in web searches and YouTube surfing in hope of ultimately tracking down the often-anonymously played tracks.
However, there’s a sizable event taking place this week at The Emporium in Patchogue that will not only offer hours of dance music, but also feature live performances from several dance singers and DJs.
Set for Wednesday, Dec. 18, Long Island dance radio station 105.3 WPTY-FM (“Party 105”) is presenting its “Electric Christmas,” an all-night affair that will host a lineup of musicians and mixers that – while not necessarily well-known – are connected to the current EDM scene.
Hosted by reality TV star Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi (“Jersey Shore,” “Snooki & JWoww”), the evening’s scheduled performers include Chris Willis (vocals on David Guetta song “Love Is Gone”), DJ Vice & Mike Taylor (song “World Is Our Playground”), Ayah Marar (vocals on Calvin Harris track “Thinking About You”), Alicia Madison (“Superstar”) and Prince Malik (“I’m Here To Drink,” “City of Lights”) – as well as members of Polizzi’s “Team Snooki Music” squad of artists, such as Brandon “B-Capp” Capp and Adela.
Tickets are available via ticketfly.com for $20; age of admission is 18 and older. For more information, visit Party 105 online at party105.com and facebook.com/party105, or The Emporium at facebook.com/emporiumny and theemporiumny.com.
