Super Bowl deals at LI sports bars

Game day is Sunday -- surely you'll be watching Super Bowl XLVI, when the Giants will face the New England Patriots in Indianapolis. Viewing parties abound in sports bars and restaurants -- some are hosting pay-one-price deals for food and drink or other game day promotions. Here's a survey of what's planned.

Reserve a table (or even just a stool) early for what the pub promises to be its biggest Super Bowl party yet. Festivities start an hour before the game with a tailgate party of unlimited food and beer on tap until the final whistle.

The super-hip stop will serve up $1 PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) drafts as long as New York is in the lead. Football fans who'd rather skip the traditional chicken wings can order up vegetarian and vegan snacks from the Long Island Vegetarian Eatery next door.

The restaurant's Super Bowl viewing party comes with unlimited domestic beer and wine, a hot and cold buffet of Buffalo wings, penne a la vodka, Italian hero, Caesar salad, cheese platter, spinach dip and a dessert station. There will be Super Bowl XLVI giveaways and a half-time raffle for a Giants jersey. Advance reservations required.

With dozens of televisions built into walls, behind the bar, on the patio -- there's hardly a bad seat in the house. Food and drink specials for the game start at noon, culminating in the raffle of one 60 inches and two 32-inch televisions (must be present to win).

Between 400 and 500 people are expected to watch the game here, where 10 giant screens broadcast through the cavernous pub and concert hall. Admission includes an "endless" buffet of chicken wings, ribs, burgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers served alongside Bud and Bud Light drafts. Prizes such as beer coolers and sweatshirts will be raffled. Advance ticket purchase suggested.

The Nutty Irishman

The pregame tailgate party kicks off at 2 p.m. with $2 burgers and hot dogs -- and gratis bowls of New England and Manhattan clam chowder (get it?). Two-time Super Bowl champ and former Giants punter Sean Landeta is scheduled to be on hand for photo ops 4:30-5:30 p.m.

During the game, patrons can nosh on 25-cent wings and 2-for-1 bottles of Bud or Bud Light.


Declan Quinn's

This laid-back bar is keeping it simple: $35 admission includes unlimited drafts, a buffet during the game and a Giants jersey raffle. Good to know: Declan Quinn's is within walking distance of the LIRR station in Bay Shore.

It's also only the second week of business for this brand-new beer garden, so everything is new, including the several TVs (and the large projection screen) and the extensive brew menu. Admission includes open bar (well drinks and drafts) and wings during the game.

Catch the game on 11 plasma TVs, plus a large projector. Pay $40 and get an open bar for the duration of the game, a buffet and raffle ticket for prizes ranging from snowboards to coolers.

It's a different sort of Super Bowl pregame party -- The Nutty Irishman's Bay Shore location will host a chili cook-off that will have amateur cooks doling out tastes of their best recipes when they're ready at 4 p.m. Before then, there will be giveaways and free line dancing lessons (3 p.m.) My Country 96.1 FM radio broadcasts live from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The event segues into a Super Bowl viewing party -- there's no cover charge.

The dance club turns sports bar for the big game. Admission is for ages 21 and over only and includes a buffet of food all game and open bar until halftime ($50).
