Mother's Day is Sunday -- time for a toast:

Instead of roses -- Try rosés. Fragrant and refreshing, the 2013 Hecht & Bannier Côtes de Provence Rosé ($20); dry and delightful, 2013 Castello Monaci Kreos Rosé ($18); and the berry-driven, rose-petal-pink 2013 Simi Dry Rosé ($27)

For bubbly Mom -- Strawberries, cherries, brightness bottled in Banfi's semi-dry, sparkling red, Rosa Regale Brachetto d'Acqui ($20); elegance and finesse in the luminous Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial ($50).

Big Mama -- The 2011 Justin ISOSCELES ($75), the 25th anniversary of a vivid, ruby, full-bodied blend that's mostly cabernet sauvignon.

Mamma Mia -- The dependably satisfying 2011 Castello Banfi Rosso di Montalcino ($25); and the Amaro Montenegro ($26), an amber-hued digestif, named for Italy's second queen.

Belle Mère -- Maison Joseph Drouhin's 2010 Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Cailles and 2010 Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Damodes ($102 each), two delightful, deep, garnet-shaded red Burgundies, with spice notes and long lives.

California Girl -- Go west with the appley, minerally, excellent 2012 Jordan Russian River Valley Chardonnay ($30); the peachy, citrusy, aromatic 2013 CADE Sauvignon Blanc ($28); and the bright, fruity, floral, single-vineyard 2012 Shafer Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay ($50).

Youthful Mommy -- From the Santa Rita Hills winery Hilliard Bruce comes the bright 2011 Sun Pinot Noir ($55) and the balanced HB 2011 Chardonnay ($45).

Sweet Mama -- Unwind with the summery, crisp liqueur, Villa Massa Limoncello ($25).
