The Brookhaven Amphitheater in Farmingville will play host to “Beatstock 2011” on Aug. 20. It's an event that will feature dozens of DJs, dance artists and freestyle singers – and while older fans of these entertainers should have much to look forward to, they may find this to be a unique situation to share with their children as one of the hottest boy bands working today will also be making an appearance.

First, for fans of club music, the line-up holds a list of major names, with artists known best for their hits during the 1980s-'90s (Robin S., Crystal Waters, Ultra Nate, Rob Base) plus current stars (Lucas Prata, Kim Sozzi) joining pop performers (Shaggy, Kat Deluna, Jeremih) for this 11-hour fest starting at noon. In addition, one of Long Island’s favorite genres of music – freestyle – will also be represented (Coro, Rockell, Noel, Cover Girls, Pajama Party), all the while backed by a bevy of well-known DJs (Theo Pisani, Razor and Guido, Tommy Nappi, Glenn Friscia, Louie DeVito).

As noted, many of those scheduled are easily recognized by those in their 20s, 30s and 40s. However, the most-arguably in-demand scheduled guests may appeal more to the children of the aforementioned age demographics, those guests being the boy band Big Time Rush. Their show is viewed around the world on the Nickelodeon cable network, have reached the pop charts, are “liked” by over 2, 000,000 people on Facebook and have more than 300,000 Twitter followers – and if you’re wondering if they can generate a crowd, know that their 2010 appearance in Minnesota’s Mall of America brought in over 9000 people, while BTR’s past performance for NBC-TV’s “Today” show summer concert series filled the audience space at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.

General admission tickets for Beatstock 2011 are available for $30, with VIP packages of $150 (VIP lower level ticket, access to all Beatstock events, VIP entrance, premium parking) and $395 (all previously mentioned VIP amenities plus “meet-and-greets” with available Beatstock artists, backstage access and exclusive Beatstock crew shirt).
