Now what you hear is not a test: The Sugarhill Gang will be performing Friday, July 15, at Four Food Studio in Melville.
They are known for hits like "Apache" and "Eighth Wonder" -- but it was 1979's "Rapper's Delight," the first hip-hop single to become a Top 40 hit on the pop music charts, that made the band club and radio legends.
Fast-forward more than 30 years, and "Delight" is still a song that gets people dancing -- and if you'd like to take a twirl while the group brings it to the stage live, this event at Four should be the right way to go.
It's the kick-off for the restaurant and lounge's "Friday Night Summer Concert Series," a party that also includes a DJ playing a mix of classic dance, old school hip-hop, freestyle and other sounds from the '70s, '80s and '90s as well as some newer sounds. It all starts at 11:30 p.m. for no cover charge.
Future Fridays will include such bands as TKA ("Maria, "Louder Than Love," July 22) and dance artist Reina ("Find Another Woman," "No One's Gonna Change You," July 29). For more information, reach out to Four at 631-577-4444 or check online at fourfoodstudio.com.
