Considered by much of the Hamptons' social crowd as the "main event" of Montauk's summer nightlife scene, the Surf Lodge's arrival in the late 2000s is also thought of as a signature moment when the town began its transformation from fishing hamlet to city hipster heaven and hot spot for international tourists. Besides hotel rooms, a restaurant is on site. It features a dedicated calendar of live music gleaned from the popular Manhattan-Brooklyn indie circuit, film and art events, celebrity sightings and a massive fire pit on the adjoining beach.
