The neurodevelopmental condition known as autism affects a vast number of families across the country, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announcing last week it had assessed that one in 50 children nationwide have some type of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
There are a number of organizations that specifically focus on Long Island families living with ASD, and on April 5, anyone interested in contributing to three of those groups can do so by attending this year’s Woodbury Ball for Autism, set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
It’s being held at the Village Club at Lake Success, and features an all-inclusive affair that includes an open bar, food and auctions – with the main event a live performance by Billboard music-charting singer (and LI native) Ryan Star (rstar.net).
Tickets are available for $200 online at npo.networkforgood.org, with proceeds to be shared by Autism Speaks, North Shore Autism Circle and Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism. For more information, head online to northshoreautismcircle.org.
