This Jones Beach air show fee issue

I read the  story twice about the $8 fee to watch the practice run of the Jones Beach Air Show on Friday of Memorial Day weekend, and still can't figure out why people are so upset about it.

Fine, it's $8 out of pocket as opposed to it being free for the past however-many years. And people are outraged over having to dispense with the price of lunch to watch planes fly overhead and do tricks? This is like complaining when BitTorrent is down and you can't illegally download music and movies.

Man up and pay the eight bones. Heck, fork over 32 quarters if you really want to make a point. Or, just go on Saturday and Sunday, pay $10 and get the full experience. The money goes to help keep our parks open, something we all desperately want.

But if you really want to spend no money to be entertained by aerial endeavors, head over to the Norman J. Levy Preserve in Merrick. Walk up to the top of the hill and watch it all from one of the littlest-known places on the Island. Until now, that is.
