Are you in countdown mode yet? Is there just enough time to heat dinner in the microwave? Before the calendar does you in, here are three eateries for a quick, moderately priced meal - fuel for the busy days ahead.
For lunch or dinner, visit Centro Cucina in Greenvale. The shopping-center spot stands out with excellent pizzas (especially the four-cheese and the fried eggplant-ricotta salata numbers), panini (look for the Piacenza and the Classico), wraps and salads. Fine pastas, too. And, at a higher price, the whole, grilled seafood is first-rate.
Centro Cucina is at 43C Glen Cove Rd., just north of Route 25A, in Greenvale; 516-484-3880, centrocucinacafe.com.
Blue Moon in Rockville Centre briskly turns out very good, coal-oven pizzas and huskier stuff, including lasagna, manicotti, ravioli with meat sauce, and assorted panini. The basic combo of prosciutto, mozzarella, olive oil and basil carries a hint of summer, in case you're already on the edge. Also, there's savory pasta e fagioli.
Blue Moon is at 26 N. Park Ave., Rockville Centre; 516-763-4900,
John Harvard's Brew House in Lake Grove is the local link in the chainlet. It's a popular eatery for burgers and sliders (pulled pork and BLT included), plus dishes such as fish and chips, made with cod; chicken potpie; and grilled meat loaf with barbecue sauce. And, of course, there are brews.
John Harvard's is at 2093 Smithhaven Plaza, Lake Grove, near the Smith Haven Mall; 631-979-2739.
