If you went to high school in the 80s, fact is you've already had your 20th high school reunion (not to rub it in or anything) -- but that doesn't mean you can't have yourself one more big, festive bash that recalls your heyday back when skinny ties and massive hairdos were the norm.
Katie's of Smithtown, the 145 W. Main St. bar, is having its first annual "80s Prom" Saturday, June 11-- a night designed to remind all what the big high school dances were like a couple of (fun) decades back.
It all starts at 10 p.m., and everyone who dresses in 80s clothes gets in for no cover (there may be one instituted for folks who arrive in current gear). Once inside, all sorts of pop, rock and dance music from those glory days will spin -- and there'll even be a dance contest for those who still have the moves.
Snacks will be available in the form of a "junk food buffet" and a trivia contest is also on the agenda, but here's the ultimate prom moment of the night: All in attendance will be able to have their photo taken under an arch of balloons -- and the hosts promise these pictures will be only of the cheesiest variety!
It all leads to the big moment of when some couple is crowned Prom King and Queen for the evening. So if you missed out on scoring that royal hat back when you were 18, consider this a second chance to rule the dance.
