It’s no news that come summertime, the Hamptons, Fire Island and all waterside venues provide seasonal flair to parties and meals, with shorefront views and open air. But while these soirée spots count on rivers, bays, canals and the ocean for shimmering aquatic visuals, few will feature what one spot will offer on May 19: a pool-powered party.
Returning to The Sands in Atlantic Beach for a second year, the Wave Summer Club is a day-to-night event, and while it may be located mere footsteps from the Atlantic Ocean, the festivities will be taking place on the venue's deck around its 7,500-square-foot swimming pool. Starting at 11 a.m., a roster of DJs begin to spin, including such scene favorites as Justin Time, Doug Oko, Dami, Johnny Vicious and Razor & Guido. Dance artists Veronica (“Someone To Hold,” “Let Me Go... Release Me”) and Kim Sozzi ("Feelin' Me,” "How Did You Know") are scheduled to appear as well, all before the sun sets.
However, sunset doesn’t signal last call. Once evening arrives, the After Dark part of the festivities begin (officially at 7 p.m.) – not as a separate event but rather a continuance of the daytime bash. This segment also features a live performance from club music celebrity Reina ("If I Close My Eyes," "Find Another Woman," "No One's Gonna Change You"). As for the beats, selectors Justin Michaels, Jason Drazen, Michael Anthony and Scott Camello are to appear, all leading up to a main-event session from legendary NYC DJ Jonathan “JP” Peters.
General admission tickets are available in advance for $40, with 62 cabanas also set for VIP use. These range from $1,000 to $2,500 (depending on how close to the stage and DJ booth they are). The dress code is summer attire; 21 and over only.
