Thursday evening is always a top time to go out, with several options to hit up before retiring for the night.
This Thursday will be no different -- and among the possibilities that night will be a subtle soiree to be held at Monsoon Asian Kitchen and Lounge in Babylon Village that’s timed to kick things off right after work.
From 6 p.m.- 8 p.m., its short scheduled span provides the option of either staying to mingle until close (at this upscale, well-reviewed restaurant and bar) or just checking in before moving on to other spots).
More than just a plain old party however, it’s also a fundraiser looking to aid in the battle against prostate cancer. Dubbed “Wear Blue for the Men You Love” -- as September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and blue is the color worn to signify knowledge of the deadly disease -- all who attend will pay an entry fee of $25, which grants complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a gratis specialty cocktail and half-price drinks throughout the gathering’s two-hour length. But, do note that all of this gala’s proceeds are going to benefit Integrated Medical Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization which works to promote the early detection of prostate cancer (imfcares.org). All who have paid the cover will receive a $25 gift card available to use at Monsoon at a later date.
Monsoon executive chef Michael Wilson will also be contributing to the fete, as he has devised a menu with dishes that feature prostate-healthy ingredients, which will start serving at this “Wear Blue” function and continue to be available until Sunday (Sept. 29). Admission can be paid in cash upon arrival, or in advance online at wearblue4men.eventbrite.com. For more information, call Monsoon at 631-587-4400 or check monsoonny.com and facebook.com/MonsoonNY.
