2011 was The Cortland in Bay Shore’s first full year in business, and during the past twelve months it provided some of the Island’s unique craft beer events – as well as some of the most original happenings seen in years – such as a weekly “Rock-Paper-Scissors” tournament and a monthly art show (“Art on Tap”), among several others. So, when it came time to organize its holiday party, sure enough this small-but-bustling pub on Main Street stayed true to form.

On Friday The Cortland is holding a ‘Winterfest.’ Hosted by “The Beer Amigos” – a duo of Long Island podcasters whose main subject is local craft beer – the night will also feature an appearance by an especially rare concoction: the “Flying Amigo Chile Pepper Toboggan Ryed" rye beer created by Great South Bay Brewery.

In addition, The Cortland is also holding an Ugly Sweater contest, and will give all who make a Toys-For-Tots donation a house gift certificate in return. And since the weather hasn’t been all that wintery, to set the mood for this ‘Winterfest,’ there will be a snow machine on-hand to add some festive flakes.

Everything starts after 7 p.m., for no cover at the door.
