The boardwalk is still a work in progress, but Long Beach has another attraction this summer: Shoregasboard. This convocation of food trucks is where Riverside Boulevard hits the beach. Last Saturday, it consisted of seven mobile eateries circled around a sandy little plaza of umbrella-topped tables.

Shoregasboard’s driving force is Alan Adams, owner of the West Park Avenue restaurant Sugo Café. The Sugo truck offers an abbreviated menu including chicken meatballs with tomato-cream sauce ($6) and tacos ranging from blackened fish to Korean style ($5, 2 for $8).

All of the trucks are operated by local restaurants. Swingbellys, the barbecue eatery that recently reopened, offers sandwiches ($7.50) made with smoked chicken, turkey, sausage, pulled pork, brisket or chili as well as seafaring grub such as lobster rolls ($15). Lido Deli brings classic kosher-style deli such as hot dogs ($3.50), deli sandwiches ($8) and square knishes ($3.25). Villagio serves street-fair-style sausage and pepper sandwiches and Philly-style cheesesteaks (both $8). Long Beach Wellness Café lightens matters up with veggie burger with red-pepper hummus ($8) and goat cheese and organic chicken salad ($9).

Also on the scene: Pineapple Express truck serving frozen yogurt from Long Beach’s Tutti Frutti and the NY Acai truck serving fruit-based smoothies and bowls.

Shoregasboard is at the intersection of Riverside Boulevard and East Broadway in Long Beach and is open every day from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
