The Greenport Maritime Festival, which runs through Sunday, Sept. 22, involves lots more than the tall ships docking at Mitchell Park Marina. Festivities also include a parade, live music, activities for the kids, local cruises, fireworks — and, naturally, food.
Here’s how the food-related agenda looks so far: On Saturday and Sunday, an oyster shucking demonstration and exhibit will take place from noon to 6 p.m. in front of Mitchell Park on Front Street. Also, on Saturday, at 2 p.m., BBQ Bill’s will stage a watermelon and rib-eating contest on Front Street.
Local eateries will also be selling food in the food court, situated at Main Street and Central Avenue; local wineries will be selling their wares in Mitchell Park.
