Hampton Bays: TR's summer splash

Tom Rutyna built a reputation for expertly prepared seafood during his years at The Coast Grill in Southampton. This season, his cooking shines at Hampton Bays' TR Restaurant & Bar, one of the season's top choices to go fishin' and get crackin'.

TR is tucked away, north of the Ponquogue Bridge and behind Tully's Seafood Market. Consider it the third local landmark, an easygoing destination for very satisfying food, carefully prepared.

The good-looking, informal, sunny eatery lures you with first-class, fried-fluke fish tacos, sparked by chipotle-laced tartar sauce and tropical salsa. Rutyna fashions a delightful billi-bi, the lush, creamy mussel soup from France; and an outstanding linguine with white clam sauce. He sends out excellent fire-roasted lobster and wood-grilled swordfish, too. Try Key lime pie for dessert.
