Any beer lover on Long Island must know about Hoptron Brewtique.

This ode to craft beers is a destination for the brewmaniac as well as the casual drinker. It offers a terrific selection of brews on tap, in the bottle and the can. Home brewers can come here for their supplies. And devotees of Bud Light, Coors Light or Miller 64 will  find some flavor.

Sixteen beers are on tap, including those of local breweries. Figure $7 or $8 per brew. The sleek, friendly joint is decorated with a map of Long Island pinpointing where the beer makers are.

To go with the brews, you'll find a short menu of apropos dishes: the “brewtique crustique,“ a pesto-pine nut-smoked Gouda topped flatbread; a grilled cheese panino; an American cheese platter; a soft pretzel with mustard, pepper-and-cheese and cinnamon-maple butter dips; popcorn spiked with rosemary-infused olive oil and sea salt; and desserts from Ms. Michelle's Urban Gourmet in Bayport. Prices are $7 to $10.

You may be served at the bar, at communal benches, high stools, and a small table upfront. Plenty of standing room here.

And Hoptron hosts a class in home-brewing topics on the second Tuesday of each month. It starts at 7 p.m. This month the class is on Tuesday April 9 and the topic is that most-vital-least-understood ingredient, yeast. Classes last about an hour.

Hoptron Brewtique is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Hoptron Brewtique, 22 W. Main St., Patchogue; 631-438-0296.
