Fado, a soulful genre of music from Portugal, is now the name of a new Portuguese restaurant that just opened in Huntington. The attractive little place, which is still awaiting delivery on its awning, occupies the digs of the ex-Rio.
Husband and wife team Eduardo Nobre (who was born in Portugal) and Alison Steindler Nobre (a past partner at Main Street Cafe in Northport) are its co-owners. Recipes come from Eduardo’s mother, Elvira Nobre, who is visiting from Portugal to oversee the kitchen through November.
I can vouch for Fado's sprightly and tender octopus salad as well as an exemplary whole grilled branzino — crisp skin overlaying delicate white meat — a bargain at $17.
Fado is at 10 New St., Huntington, 631-351-1010.
