Huntington Social is slated to reopen tomorrow after a building problem in an interior wall caused it to close for more than two weeks.
The reopening is pending an inspection by the town. That was expected today.
"We were lucky," said general manager Jeffrey Ruskaupf. "It could have been a lot worse."
Wood in an interior wall near cooking equipment began to smolder, he said. Sheetrock was supposed to be used instead. He added that while the wall heated, "there was no fire."
Huntington Social combines gastropub and lounge, with a tongue-in-cheek speakeasy style. But the eclectic menu from chef Christopher Lee, a veteran of Aureole and Gilt in Manhattan, attracts you with dishes that include veal-cheek banh mi sliders, meatballs, tuna sashimi, fried chicken, summer-peach potpie and the "Social Sundae."
The 50-seater, situated in the second-floor space at New York Avenue and Main Street that previously housed Chesterfield's, would open at 5 p.m.
