Robert's, which served Italian fare in Water Mill for more than 25 years, has closed.
"It is with much sadness that I share this news," owner-chef Robert Durkin wrote in a post on the restaurant's Facebook page. He initially cited a sales tax dispute with New York State for the closing; Durkin said he would later provide additional details.
Robert's earned a three-star rating in Newsday in 1999. Specialties at the country-style restaurant included ricotta gnocchi, tagliatelle Bolognese with lamb, roast duck with caramelized sweet potatoes, and frozen pistachio nougat.
Robert's was at 755 Montauk Hwy. in Water Mill.
