Ohayo, a Japanese restaurant that offers traditional fare plus several unexpected dishes, has opened in Babylon.

It takes over the East Main Street address long-occupied by Shiki, which has closed. Shiki, received a one-star rating in Newsday in the 1990s.

Ohayo offers traditional sushi and sashimi, an assortment of multi-ingredient sushi rolls,  tempuras, teriyakis, and noodle dishes. In addition, the moderately priced newcomer prepares Kobe beef and Brie cheese sliders, a Japanese summer roll, blackened tilapia with mango salad,  and rock shrimp with pineapple and sweet-chile glaze. Entrees run from about $15 to $25.

Ohayo, 233 E. Main St., Babylon; 631-669-1639/79.
