That was quick. Jessica O’Brien, the 13th chef at Jedediah Hawkins Inn in Jamesport, has left after less than three months. No successor has been named. General manager Colin Keillor said that the inn would be “utilizing our existing kitchen crew and events staff while a candidate is selected.”
Since it opened in 2006, the sumptuously restored Victorian house has had a revolving kitchen door. Initially, the kitchen was helmed by noted Long Island chef Tom Schaudel, who now presides over A Lure in Southold, A Mano in Mattituck and Jewel in Melville.
After Schaudel left in 2009, he was succeeded by Matt Murphy (now executive chef at Ram’s Head Inn in Shelter Island), Steven Lewis, Keith Luce (culinary services director at Corbeaux Bakery in Calgary, Canada), Alex Algieri (general manager at East Hampton Point), Lia Fallon (executive chef at Grey Horse Tavern in Bayport), Richard Kanowsky (executive chef at Toast in Patchogue), Craig Attwood (executive chef at East Hampton Point), Kyle Strong Romeo (executive chef at American Beech in Greenport), Stephen Smrcina, Kasia Dabrowska, Chris Pappademas and, now, Jessica O’Brien.
