Baseball fans can engage in a meet-and-eat on Sunday, March 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., when former New York Yankees catcher and clutch-hitter Jim Leyritz will be the star of a sit-down dinner at Carlino’s of Mineola.
The meal starts with ballpark snacks: mini hot dogs, popcorn and pretzels. For appetizers, chef Christopher Lano has come up with a trio of sliders: pulled pork, cheeseburger and Buffalo chicken. Main course options include BBQ swordfish with crab risotto, chicken rollatini and grilled vegetable ravioli. Garlic parsley fries come on the side with all. For dessert: ice cream sundaes.
Leyritz will chat and sign autographs (one item of choice), as well as do a book-signing of his work, “Catching Heat: The Jim Leyritz Story.” Baseballs are available for purchase.
The cost of the dinner is $55 a person. Since there is limited seating, reservations must be paid beforehand. Proceeds will go to The Greatest Save Foundation, a Major League Baseball charity whose goal is to prevent child abductions.
Carlino’s of Mineola is at 204 Jericho Tpke., Mineola, 516-747-6616.
