Long Island Restaurant Week starts Sunday, with about 170 restaurants offering three-course, fixed-price meals for  $24.95.

These dinners will be available through April 10. The lone exception: Saturday, April 9, after 7 p.m.

The full list of participating restaurants is available on the restaurant week website.

Critics Peter M. Gianotti and Joan Reminick have their favorites. Here are a half-dozen recommendations from each reviewer.

Gianotti suggests: Casa Rustica in Smithtown for Italian cuisine; The North Fork Table & Inn in Southold for New American; Mirabelle in Stony Brook for French; Legal Sea Foods in Huntington Station and Garden City for fish and shellfish; Two Steak and Sushi Den in New Hyde Park for, yes, steak and sushi; and Cafe Buenos Aires in Huntington for tapas and Latin fare.

Recommended by Reminick: Kitchen A Trattoria in St. James for authentic Italian cuisine; Bluepoint Bar & Grill in Blue Point and Old Fields in Greenlawn, both offering gastro-pub comforts; Tate’s Restaurant in Nesconset for New American fare; West East Bistro in Hicksville, where Asian meets New American; and Big Daddy’s in Massapequa Park for Southern, Creole and Cajun food (BBQ too)..
