Valentine's Day is big at restaurants on Long Island and almost everywhere else. Here are some that are offering specials for the festivities, especially for dessert.
After the Chateaubriand or steamed lobster for two, decide among the Valrhona chocolate bombe, vanilla cheesecake, mocha creme brulee, or chocolate-covered strawberries at View in Oakdale.
After the coriander-crusted pork tenderloin or "two faced" blackened or black-and-white sesame seed-crusted tuna, choose a napoleon with caramel sauce, Puerto Rican black-and-white tembelque coconut pudding, or white chocolate mousse cake with cherry sauce at Perfecto Mundo in Commack.
Following a seafood platter for two and heart-shaped lobster ravioli, pick Nutella fondue for two, cheesecake creme brulee, or ice-cold hot chocolate with whipped cream and a praline tuile at Revel in Garden City.
Subsequent to the grilled rib-eye steak for two or the pan-roasted red snapper with saffron-cockle broth, enjoy the puff pastry "souffle" chocolate mousse, the espresso macaron, and the "box o' chocolates" cocktail at Nick & Toni's in East Hampton.
And celebrate with a chocolate tasting menu that includes seared Peconic Bay oysters with toasted white chocolate risotto, cacao-crusted lamb chops, and Beau Soleil oysters with chocolate tapioca pearls at Noah's in Greenport. Then: flourless chocolate cake, dark chocolate pot de creme, and a Godiva liqueur hot chocolate shot.
