Long Island Hospitality Ball: Restaurants converge on June 3

The third annual 2013 Long Island Hospitality Ball will be held on Monday, June 3 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

The event, which benefits the American Cancer Society, showcases food and drink from hundreds of local restaurants and wine and spirit companies, among them: Rare 650 in Syosset, Tellers and Verace in Islip, Vero and Vittorio’s in Amityville, K. Pacho in New Hyde Park, Mill Pond House in Centerport, George Martin in Rockville Centre, Uncle Bacala’s in Garden City Park, West End Bistro in Carle Place. New this year is a competition among participating restaurants for best entree, best bread, best pastry, best cake, best dessert and best overall table presentation. The judges include Michael Maroni, chef-owner of Maroni Cuisine in Northport, and Brian Halweil and Stephen Munshin, editor and publisher of Edible Long Island magazine.

The judging will be completed before the tasting gets under way so guests can see if they agree with the results.

Last year’s event was attended by more than 2,000 people and raised more than $240,000. This year, the organizers are shooting for $300,000
