Where to get your own lobster bakes on Long Island

There's an easy way to get a traditional New England lobster bake on Long Island: Order it ready-to-go from a restaurant or seafood market. You'll get the star of the show — lobster — with some combination of mussels, clams, shrimp, corn on the cob and potatoes. Pick your pleasure:

READY-TO-EAT LOBSTER BAKES

Peter's Clam Bar (600 Long Beach Rd., Island Park): For $29 a person, Peter’s assembles a half lobster, mussels, steamers, clams and shrimp with corn on the cob. Claudio’s (111 Main St., Greenport): The iconic Greenport restaurant is perched right on the water and — fittingly — looks and feels every bit the part of a Northeast seafood house. DIY LOBSTER BAKES

Truth is, it's not that hard to cook your own lobster bake at home — the places below will not only cut, peel and prep your ingredients, but pack them for you in a ready-to-cook vessel that needs little else besides some added liquid and a little time on the stove or grill.

GraBar ( 100 Court St., Copiague): The seafood market's special DIY summer lobster bake includes a 1 1/4lb. lobster, one ear of corn, new potatoes, plus six littleneck clams or a half-pound of steamers. $39 a person. More info: 516-876-0441, grabarfish.com.

PJ Lobster House (1 N. Country Rd., Port Jefferson): The restaurant's cook-at-home lobster bakes come ready to feed two with a pair of 1 ½-lb. whole lobsters, a dozen clams and a half pound of mussels for $75.
