In this week’s Newsday Joan Reminick reviews Huntington’s Ideal Cheese & Wine Cafe, “a multitasking champ” that “functions as an early-morning coffee shop, an artisanal cheese purveyor and a full-service cafe.” Among the winners on chef Matthew Kornfeld’s cheese-centric menu are zucchini “spaghetti” tossed with Parmigiano-Reggiano, pine nuts, basil and house-made ricotta, bodacious macaroni and cheese croquettes, and excellent wings and fries.

Peter Gianotti visits Groppelo’s in Port Washington, which takes over the Shore Road location vacated by Sisina. “The menu has been tweaked but not overhauled,” he writes, and retains many of Sisina’s recipes. Like its predecessor, Groppelo’s is “a good neighborhood restaurant for uncomplicated Italian cooking.”
