In this week’s Newsday, Joan Reminick reviews Cilantro Mexican Inspired Food, which takes over the Huntington Village spot previously occupied by Wild Rocket. Cilantro, a spinoff of the counter-serve restaurant that launched in Northport last year, has a setup similar to Chipotle Mexican Grill. Reminck particularly enjoyed anything made with the “juicy, boldly seasoned” oven-roated chicken thighs and crimson pickled onions, “with their eye-opening citrus kick.”
Peter Gianotti visits New Peninsula, a Chinese-Japanese overhaul of the Bay Shore veteran. Under the new ownership of Danny Wu, who also owns West East All Natural Bistro & Bar in Hicksville and Thom Thom Steak & Sushi in Wantagh, “the transition is definitely underway, but it’s not complete.” In the meantime, recommendations include wonton and hot-and-sour soup, traditional sushi and colorful sushi rolls.
